Hi, I’m Yvette. I love to travel, especially to unconventional places. Most of the time, I can’t find what I need on places like TripAdvisor, so I wanted to create a space where I can share my experiences of what it is like travelling as a black woman who is coeliac.
Travel has always given me a great sense of freedom and helped to expand my horizons, and I want to share that because it has meant so much to me. I remember years ago, watching a documentary with P Diddy, and he said in the 90s, he wanted to create a new image for Hip-Hop. He wanted to show people having fun and living well, and just give a different perspective beyond struggle. This always stayed with me, and I want to showcase moments of joy and adventure.
Along with travel, food is one of the most important things to me and I am constantly thinking about what I am going to eat next! Being coeliac and travelling extensively can be really challenging. Having to navigate menus in foreign languages and making it clear that you cannot have anything containing gluten when you don’t fully understand all the ingredients on the menu can be really tough. I want to share the great places I have found, both at home and abroad that are safe for coeliacs.
