Honest Burgers – I love that I can have a proper burger, with a bun (and not a lettuce substitute), that is tasty, inventive and satisfying. I look forward to seeing what the ‘special’ will be each month and I love that the sides are gluten free too.  The onion rings at Honest Burger are on point, I think that the price is reasonable for what you get, and service is generally always great at whichever branch you go to.  My favourite thing on the menu tends to be either the monthly special, or the local special (I like the ‘Mother Clucker’ without bacon)

Ceviche – Peruvian cuisine is one of my favourites as there are so many naturally gluten free options and I feel like everything just tastes amazing. With that said, Lima is one of my favourite restaurants in London; I am never disappointed when I go there!!  The food is amazing, the cocktails are amazing, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and fun and there are so many options on the menu which are gluten free (and others which can be easily adapted).  It has a great vibe inside, BUT, the tables are close together, so it can get very ‘cozy’.  My favourites on the menu are the Pastel de Choclo, Don Ceviche and Pulpo a la Parrilla

Leadbelly’s Bar and Kitchen – So, I have only ever had a roast dinner at this place, but how amazing is it to be able to have a roast dinner with Yorkshire puddings and gravy that is gluten free!!!!  There are vegetarian options for the roast, and when the weather is nice, there is an great outdoor space. The desserts are good, and I will definitely be returning to try other things on the menu too

Niche Fine Dining – I have only gone to Niche since they have been under new management, and it’s always been a wonderful experience for me. It is such a treat to be able to know that everything on the menu, including the delicious desserts are completely gluten free.  My personal favourite on the menu are the parmesan and cheddar doughnuts.  It just feels so novel to be able to have something fried and know that it is safe to eat

I never remember to take a picture of the cheddar doughnuts as I eat them too quickly, but here is a picture of the amazing Summer crumble at Niche Fine Dining

Leggero – I love Italian food and when I found out I was coeliac one of the things I struggled with was thinking I wouldn’t be able to eat some of my favourite Italian foods (pizza and tiramisu).  I was really happy when Leggero opened (although they initially had a different name) because it meant there was a place for me to safely have some of my favourites.  It’s really hard to have gluten free ravioli or lasagna and I’ve really struggled to find gluten free desserts like my favourite tiramisu, but they are all available to eat at Leggero!  There are options to buy fresh pasta and some meals for delivery access London, so you can get to taste things at home.  All the staff I’ve met at Leggero have been so helpful and friendly, that it’s a great dining out experience, and I am looking forward to my next time there

Mamma Dough – Pizza is one of my all time favourite foods.  I love pizza and without a doubt would be able to eat pizza every day.  It is really hard to find good gluten free pizza, but that’s what I have found with Mamma Dough’s Pizza!  You do have to pay extra for a gluten free base, but it tastes like what I remember non gluten free pizza tastes like.  There are lots of vegetarian and vegan options, and there are a few Mamma Doug branches across South East London, but my favourite is the one in Ladywell and my favourite pizzas are The Beatrice and The Anchoa
Joy’s Health Sanctuary – another gem of South East London is Joy’s Health Sanctuary in Catford.  This is a hub of the community in Catford, and the meal of the day is always tasty and great value.  Everything served here is vegan, and there are lots of gluten free options and regular cakes/sweet treats which are also gluten free.  Joy will be closing her doors next year when she moves to Jamaica, so it’s best to enjoy this place while you can but if you ask me, it is just another reason to visit Jamaica to see her new place!

Caspian – This is a lovely family run Persian restaurant in South East London.  I absolutely love this place.  There are several gluten free options, and many meals can be adapted.  The food is so delicious, the staff are friendly, kind and welcoming and the prices are reasonable.  My favourite dish on the menu is Zereshk Polo

Lima – As I mentioned, I am a big fan of Peruvian food, and Lima never disappoints.  I have been there several times, and every single time, regardless of what I order the food is exquisite!  There are so many gluten free options, and the chefs are willing to make adjustments where they can.  The cocktails are amazing and the atmosphere is great.  It is more expensive than the other options on here, but it is perfect for a reliable and wonderful experience, and I think very much worth the money.  It’s very hard for me to pick a favourite here, because everything is marvellous.  I would order everything I’ve ever eaten there again and again without hesitation

Wahaca – it’s great to have a fast food place that has good options for coeliacs and I think Wahaca is a solid option.  They have great gluten free tacos which are reasonably priced and tasty and my favourite thing on the gluten free menu.  The food comes out labels and the cocktails are also great.  It’s a great option if you are out with a group of people as there is something for everyone
